New Librarian joins VWML team

New Librarian joins VWML team

The English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) is delighted to announce that Natalie Bevan has joined the Vaughan Williams Memorial Library (VWML) team as our new librarian.

Natalie Bevan

Natalie has a background in History and Literature, complemented by an MA in Information Services Management from London Metropolitan University. She has held previous library roles at the Natural History Museum, the British Library, Kent County Council and the University of London, having been involved in the cataloguing of rare books, local studies services, and conservation within library collections as well as managing electronic resource collections and developing online services.

Her MA dissertation focused on issues and drivers for the digitisation of special collections in libraries and museums, an issue directly relevant to the VWML following the launch of The Full English project.

Natalie said: “[The Full English] is exactly the sort of digitisation that keeps collections relevant and valuable, and improves ease of access for enthusiasts, as well as helping to open up the collections to new groups of people who may not have otherwise known the collections were there.

“My new role is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with unique collections that have that wonderful mix of resonance and vitality and I’m really looking forward to taking an active role in supporting the on-going work of the Society.
