  As I am thy mother and thou art my son

  Come listen to parents' advice

  Put on thy best clothes as e'er thou hast got

  And go and seek thee a wife thou must

  But I'l tell thee my boy that some will be coy

  Now the first pretty girl that Robin did meet

  Was the butcher's fat daughter called Grace

  He hadn't a kissed her but once or twice

  When her hit him a slap in the face her did

  She called him her boy her darling her joy

  Saying: Robin how soon thee are wed, thee art

  I were ne'er more ashamed in my life

  I spoiled my fine clothes and my best yellow hose

  And I'll ne'er more seek for a wife I wont

  Ha I wont; sure I wont

  I'll ne'er more seek for a wife I wont.
